Little Miss Sunshine

i love little miss sunshine soundtrack...

ok, so i guess I haven't blogged for a couple of months.  (the closest emoticon they had to :o/ )  whoopsies.  I blame moving into a house/working 89 hours a week(end)/starting school/my undying love for sleep for my lack of blogging.  oh, and absense of  internet for the last 2 weeks.  and chemical nomenclature.  damn you chemicals and your complicated structures and names!

so anyway, as you all know I'm living in my house now, finally.  it only took me about 4 weeks to get completely moved in.  but really, have I ever been speedy about things?  I could tell you about it, but I'd rather talk about other things, and just invite you all over.  probably not this weekend considering I'll be gone until sunday night and I have to work at 8 am on monday...BUT definately the next break we get.  OOORR if you guys just want to come home and surprise me...that would be amazing.

guess what I did today?  I had to mow since I've been putting it off for weeks, that's not the point though.  we have a pear tree in the backyard and over the past couple of weeks I'd say that about 10-15 pounds of pears have fallen off the tree.  BUT since my grass was so long, they kind of just sank in there, and became infested with little bugs, and gnats, and BEES (yeah, who knew bees liked pears?) so before I could mow I had to walk around and pick up all the half eaten, rotting chunks of pear while dodging  swarming familes of pissed off bees.  and it took about 45 minutes to pick up the first half because everytime a bee got within a foot of me, or buzzed around to look at me I ran away like a little pansie (pansie?  panzie?  I have never once had to spell that before).  but you know that crazy bear guy that lived with the bears?   in canada?  and they just got accustomed to him being around and didn't bother him?  ok, well I think that's what happened with me and the bees.  we're friends now.  it's to the point where they will be eating a pear, and I pick it up by the stem and carry it over the box and gently set it down.  and everybody's happy.  but then every once and a while I get freaked out and throw the pear on my way to the box.  you know that bear got eaten?!  if there's anything I learned from that guy it's that you can't trust animals.  especially not animals (and i include insects in this category) that start with the letter B.  this little section is just getting incredibly long isn't it.  don't care.  so after that I spent another 45 minutes picking pears off the tree adn it was sooo fun.  I love fruit trees.  of course, I only got like 20 becuase that tree is BIG.  and I can't jump very high.  BUT (this story is not done yet) while I was jumping around trying to knock off pears, one of my neighbors came over (Russ) and talked to me, and then he gave me a pear picker!!  my very first gardening tool!  so after talking to Russ, I've decided to plant a full fledged vegetable garden in my backyard, trim up the pear tree and spray it adn whatnot, and turn completely to subsistance farming.  I don't need grocery stores.  I will live off of pears and vegetables.  oh, and, when I was mowing my other neighbor was out, Nick (who owns the biggest, sadest looking basset hound ever) and I went over to talk to him, and then his sister Josephine gave me a bag of peaches from her peach tree.  adn I showed them my i-pod.  they were tried  to listen to it by holding it up to their ears.  I love old people.

I realize this has already been blogged about, but go see Little Miss Sunshine right now.  even if you've seen it already.  I don't even care.  I love that soundtrack [as noted in the title of this blog]

ok...I think that's all for now.  I'll try to blog more often I  promise.

ps  to add to my list of favorite things...Malt-O-Meal cereal.  you just can NOT go wrong with malt-o-meal.  well that's what I've found.  seriously though...it delicious.  I would recommend the Grahmm squares or honey nut scooters.

Currently Watching: 2006 FIFA World Cup

ok...this will be short, I just have a couple of things to say about the world cup, in particular, the england v. portugal game

#1 when you're standing directly in front of the referee, don't blatently stomp on another guys balls, push him, and then be surprised when you get a red card.

# 2 if you're peter crouch...I'm sorry.
Peter Crouch

you are a lanky and awkward 7 foot monster
Peter CROUCH

#3 portugal...I hate you.   you have ugly souls.

I am done with the world cup.

p.s. if you guys really want somebody to lose, tell me and I will cheer for them.

Pride & Prejudice (Widescreen Edition)

I just love that Mr. Darcy...  I just love this movie in general actually.  this is only the second time I've seen it, but this time I can actually understand most of the dialogue.  those old British folk talk so fast! (I like using italics now that I have the option...if you didn't notice).  Anyway, you know what else I love about this movie?  Well, I guess about this time period?  The way people bow and curtsy every 3 seconds.  ok, maybe 3 seconds is a little bit of an exaggeration, but seriously.  Probably like every 8.  The only cool thing about bowing and curtsying is that it seems to get people out of what-would-be really awkward situations.  In this movie that is.  It's happened like 5 times already.  Somebody will say something really mean or...awkward, and all the other person has to do is bow and walk away!!  You can't just walk away from an awkward situation now-a-days...it would just make things worse.  But throw in a bow or a curtsy and everybody's happy.  I say we bring back bowing...I hate awkward situations.

isn't Keira Knightly's character in Pirates named Elizabeth too?  Judi Dench rocks.  ok, I'm done about this movie now.

I agree with wojo's latest blog.  We need to plan our theme days and whatnot soon.  The next time we hang out we need to figure out when we're going to do all this stuff.  I know brooke just did this too, but I'm going to list everything we need to do just for my sake:

-camping day (or two...you know bc we spend the night)
-fishing day
-lazy day
-sit at kristin's pool with our fancy drinks day
-Mahoney day...it wouldn't be a summer without BIG BUCKET
-concert of some sort (just as long as it's not alice cooper who apparently is coming here...sorry bdon)
-grill out party
-spending all day at different people's houses (this includes showering and all meals)
-Matthew Macfayden day (mr. darcy) I just added that one
-helping katherine move into her house day
-finding katherine at least 2 non-psychotic, non-30 year old lady roommates
-coffee day --I also just added this one because I just really want coffee right now.  but seriously, lets have a whole day of just drinking coffee.  plain joe, lattes, mochas, fraps, iced, straight espresso, whatever!  it is all delicious

ok, that's all I can think of right now.  add on if I missed any, or if you think of any good ones.  ok, I have to go to karoline's softball game right now.  I'm late already.  and our phone will NOT stop ringing!  I hate our land phone...it's so loud and annoying.  I'm going to unplug it

p.s. I just did spell check bc I never knew that I had it, and I realized that I used the word awkward about 12 times in that first paragraph...oops.  I also learned that awkward is not spelled akward...AKword
